Spring Break Discovery Camp
(10-13 years old)
What’s Camp All About?
Half science experiment, half adventure, we’ll satisfy your addiction to fun. Spend Spring Break with us in the mountains. We won’t just go freestyle sledding, but make hypotheses about speed, acceleration, and trajectory. Walk on water, while exploring the surface tension of our frozen pond, and maybe even discover the intricacies of broomball. Try your hand in the kitchen as we turn a heap of ingredients into an edible science experiment. Learn what it takes to thrive in Colorado’s first few rays of Spring. Greet our local fauna and follow them through their Spring rituals. Our goal is to create a safe and comfortable environment to explore, learn and have fun.
What Do We Do?
Watershed exploration, snow shoeing, wildlife biology, freestyle sledding, shelter building, knife skills, snowball disagreements, broomball, edible science experiment, fishing, night-time wonder around the campfire, and movie night
Camp Life: This camp is based at Cal-Wood’s headquarters. Campers will sleep in our quaint log cabins, just a hop, skip and a jump from the Main Lodge. Each cabin sleeps 10 warm and cozy campers, while under the supervision of a Cal-Wood staff member. The Lodge is fully equipped with all of the comforts of a home away from home including warm showers, freshly remodeled bathrooms and a full kitchen. Delicious, nutritious meals are served in our dining hall while our Bear Room provides an indoor space with games and other fun activities, large enough for the entire camp.
