Our mission at Cal-Wood is to offer unique outdoor educational experiences to youth and adults in a manner that will carry on the vision of Roger and Oral Calvert. We are only able to fulfill our mission to serve those who would not otherwise have a chance to experience it through Friends of Cal-Wood that donate to our Educational Assistance Fund. Contributions from individuals, corporations and through grant opportunities significantly influence our ability to provide outdoor educational opportunities to kids from underserved schools & communities.
For every $50 donated to Cal-Wood's Educational Assistance Fund, we are able to support one low-income student to attend a 3-day environmental educaton program with their school. There are many children from the Front Range that have this need. Click on the button below to help us support their visit.
Wish List
Beyond financial assistance, many students need to be equipped with proper gear and clothing for the various weather conditions we experience in the Foothills. Cal-Wood's equipment room helps to meet this need. To help us support these kids, we appreciate donations of used/new snowpants, snow-boots, winter coats, rain jackets, boots, hats, scarves, gloves and water bottles.
Annual Christmas Tree Fundraiser
Each year, friends of Cal-Wood come to our land with their family and cut down their own Christmas tree. Proceeds from this event go directly to Cal-Wood’s Educational Assistance Fund. We ask for a minimum donation. People contribute generously to support children to have the opportunity to experience the beauty and magic of Cal-Wood in the upcoming year. Last year, the kindhearted contributions to this fund enabled 240 low-income students to visit Cal-Wood for a 3-day/2-night program during 2010.
Firewood Sales
Cal-Wood sells firewood by the cord throughout the year. This wood is a byproduct of our fire mitigation effors on the land. We offer both pickup and home delivery of firewood. All proceeds go directly to our Educational Assistance Fund that provides low-income students the opportunity to participate in Cal-Wood's outdoor education programs.
