It may be Friday the 13th, but at Cal-Wood, we are feeling lucky for everything we enjoy and have to offer to visiting students.

Already in 2015, we have provided numerous students from different schools opportunities they have never enjoyed before.

Students who have never been in the mountains experienced the joy of reaching a summit for the first time.  Children who had never played in the snow found themselves spending seven hours exploring our property on snowshoes over two feet of snow.

One instructor recently took her students from a low-income school sledding after they had worked diligently and remained upbeat in sub-freezing temperatures, only to discover that of the nine students in her learning group, only two had ever been sledding before.  “This is the best!” they kept telling her with grins on their faces.

Those of us who work here at Cal-Wood are fortunate to experience victories and discoveries like this every week.

Did you know that Cal-Wood is not just an organization that provides outstanding environmental and science education to students in the field, but that we are also a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit?

We are dedicated to providing these opportunities to all children, regardless of family income.  We believe all Colorado children deserve the opportunity to learn how exciting science can be when you learn hands-on in the field and to explore the mountains.

We are so lucky for the support of our donors and sponsors.  Please consider joining them by making a tax-deductible donation today.

Due to the many requests, we will be reviving our blog and regularly posting Cal-Wood happenings, victories, and funny stories.  Keep following us to hear more about what’s happening at Cal-Wood.
