Programs for Linguistically Diverse Students

To groups where English is predominantly the second language, Cal-Wood provides excellent support. Our Executive Director, Rafael Salgado, is a leader in the field of bilingual education and works closely with each group to ensure their unique needs are met. Direct instruction in Spanish is often complemented with specific teaching methods to reach linguistically diverse learners. This approach, termed "sheltered" instruction, is utilized by Cal-Wood's instructor staff in our school programs. Similarly, the hands-on and experiential nature of Cal-Wood facilitates an understanding among any second language learner.

Examples:
  • Pioneer Escuela Bilingue
  • Project Wild Bilingual Workshops
  • Mexican Conservation Internship Program
