Visitor Information
Facilities
Calvert Lodge is a beautiful and rustic 9,000 square-foot log building that serves as the center of Cal-Wood and is the main indoor facility on-site. It contains a large carpeted meeting area with stone-fireplace, large dining hall and kitchen, modern bathrooms with hot showers, fully equipped infirmary, and lower-level classroom, offices, and staff housing. The highlight feature of Calvert Lodge is the spacious deck with stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
Eight log cabins are within 30 yards of the lodge. Each cabin contains eight beds, lights, modern propane stoves and a front porch deck with benches. Visitors are asked to bring their own sleeping items although linen is available if requested in advance. Total capacity is 64 people.
Cal-Wood also has three scenic and secluded campsites on-site for potential group use: Solitude, Outpost, and East Camps. They are accessible by road and are primitive campgrounds with outhouses, picnic tables, and warming huts. Capacity is between 20-50 people, depending on the site.

Activities
Adjacent to the lodge/cabin area visitors can use a campfire arena (fire restrictions dependent), a volleyball court, activity areas, teambuilding initiatives, and 1,000 acres of private land to explore. Cal-Wood maintains almost 10 miles of trails for hikers of all abilities and interests. Our most popular, the Longview Trail, is a gradual ½ mile climb from the lodge/cabin area to a spectacular overlook of the Continental Divide. Also nearby to the lodge/cabin area are two ponds, an authentic homestead cabin, and a tipi. A walk to the east end of the property is a little less than 2 miles long and takes you through a pristine valley to a small waterfall and abandoned mica mine.

Pricing
A very common question for Cal-Wood staff is "how much does a program cost?" Unfortunately this is not an easy question to answer quickly because each Cal-Wood program is different. The exact fee Cal-Wood charges to an organization is reached through negotiation of a variety of factors such as length of stay, program participant numbers, types and amount of meals, and utilization of Cal-Wood staff. Groups can be assured that their final price will be very reasonable and include everything a group will need for a successful program. Please contact us with your program ideas so we can best provide you with the necessary pricing information. If you have a sense of your program components, feel free to use the Program Request Form to begin the process.
Weather
Cal-Wood's weather is a typical Colorado mountain climate of brilliant blue sky, abundant sunshine, and very rapid changes. Calvert Lodge sits at 7,800 feet, enough for a predictable 10-15 degree F. drop from the Boulder/Denver area. Additionally, storms build and approach quickly so Cal-Wood's weather often catches visitors unprepared. Please make sure you bring the necessary clothing to stay warm and dry as well as drinking water. Most outdoor activities will proceed as planned if participants are prepared.
