RE-IMAGINING THE CAL-WOOD TRADITION

So many of the students from our partner schools have been looking forward to their Cal-Wood program this school year, as this has been a tradition for many generations. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we understand that bringing the students with their class is not possible at this time, but we still want to offer a unique, limited, and safe opportunity to experience the outdoors at Cal-Wood to the students and their families.

Families can stay in cabins or camp at Cal-Wood!

HOW TO SIGN UP!

  1. Find a group of at least 9, preferably 11, families from your school, learning pod, or neighborhood that would like to participate.

  2. Reach out to set the dates and logistics via email:  schoolprograms@calwood.org

COVID-19 SAFETY

To minimize the potential threat of COVID-19, we will accept only 11 families per program. Each family will stay in their own cabin (or camp), meals will be served individually to each family, and each family will have a designated table far apart from the other families.  During the day, in our 1,200-acre classroom, we will have one Cal-Wood instructor for every two families or maximum of ten people. We will require masks when in groups and when social distancing is not possible.

Cal-Wood staff will adhere to all CDC/WHO, state, and local public health guidelines at all times. If you are interested in learning more about our COVID-19 specific policies and procedures, please contact Cal-Wood directly.

LOGISTICS

You can register for 3-days, 2-nights or an overnight program. 3-day programs can be scheduled for any days of the week or weekend, including Sunday-Tuesday programs.

Each program will be developed for each group so we can support the academic goals and content for the students' curriculum. Content may include: pond studies, animal adaptations, forestry/ecosystem dynamics, homestead, and much more!

Parents will be responsible for providing transportation to and from Cal-Wood.

We have upgraded the internet in our cabins to allow for access to distance learning and working remotely!
