ART IN THE PARK
A Special Art in the Park Benefit for Colorado Chautauqua Wildlife Protection + Cal-Wood Wildfire Recovery

On October 17, 2020, a devastating fire ravaged over half of Cal-Wood's 1,200 acre outdoor campus. As the first anniversary of the Cal-Wood Fire approaches, the Colorado Chautauqua has joined forces with Cal-Wood Education Center to help with their recovery efforts, as well as help raise awareness for Chautauqua's own efforts to protect its National Historic Landmark campus from a catastrophic wildfire.
After sourcing, milling, and planing lumber from trees burned in the fire, a team of hardworking Cal-Wood Education Center staff and several volunteers painstakingly handcrafted 35 benches. Local artists were then selected to turn these already beautiful benches into works of art for an exhibit and virtual auction beginning September 10 and ending October 17, the 1st anniversary of the Cal-Wood Fire. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the artists, Cal-Wood’s extensive wildfire recovery campaign, and Chautauqua’s critical wildfire mitigation efforts.
