Retreat Guide

Hello! Thank you so much for inquiring about hosting your retreat here at Cal-Wood. We are located on 1200 acres of beautiful land in the mountains with access to private trails, cabin-style lodging, campgrounds, and a full kitchen for our staff to provide meals throughout the duration of your stay. Additionally, we have several nature and adventure-based activities led by our staff to make your retreat as fulfilling as possible.

Lodging:

We have 8 cabins that can sleep up to 10 people each in bunk-beds for a total of 80 beds. These cabins do not have bathrooms, however access to bathrooms with showers is a short walk away and available in our Main Lodge.

We also have our Meckley Center which sleeps up to 36 people. This is also bunk-bed style, and this building can be separated into three different sections- 16 beds on each side, with four beds in the middle. There are two bathrooms with showers located in this building. Additionally, there is a large meeting space upstairs with access to Wi-Fi and a projector screen with tables and chairs.

Check out our Cabin Guide for a visual of our lodging options.

Max accommodation: 120

Meals:

We would love to choose your menu for your group! Food waste is important to our kitchen staff and by allowing us to choose your menu, we are able to use seasonal vegetables from our greenhouse as well as food we have already stocked. Of course, regardless of whether you choose your menu or not, we will accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies that are received on time.

If you'd like to choose your own menu you can do so by looking at this menu and letting us know your details below:

Retreats Menu

Dietary restrictions and menu choices are required to be submitted a minimum of 2 weeks before your start date. If we do not have this information in the proper time, we will likely be unable to accommodate last minute requests or we will need to make alternative arrangements for a last minute addition. If you or a participant has questions or concerns about their allergies, restrictions, or bringing their own food, please reach out with enough time for us to come up with a solution.

Additionally, we are not a celiac-certified kitchen, so for folks with celiac, we are unable to accommodate them at this time, but can work on finding alternative options, such as storing food in our fridge that is brought from home.

Nature & Adventure Based Programs led by our staff:

Our expert staff is qualified to teach the following activities. We aim for a 1:12 instructor to participant ratio to ensure quality and safe experiences. This may vary depending on the age range of the participants.

Guided Day Hikes, Night Hikes, and Mindfulness Walks - With over 1,200 acres of land and 3-miles of trails, our instructors can lead you through this beautiful landscape at the pace that works best for you. Enjoy playful activities, quiet reflection, or unique instruction about the nature around you.

Archery and Fishing

Take lessons on archery and fishing customized to your group's age and experience level. We also offer tree and rock climbing, as well as snowshoeing in the winter!

Survival Skills, Orienteering and Team Building

You get to learn how to build a fire, find your way around using a map and compass, or create your own survival shelter! Our staff can put together a unique program to teach these skills and build strong team bonds along the way!

Colorado History w/Pioneer Cabin - On our property we have a cabin built in 1901 where people who acquired land from the Homestead Act lived off the land many years ago. Cal-Wood is booming with homestead and mining history. Choose to explore our pioneer cabin combined with a history lesson or a hike to nearby mining exploration pits!

Got an activity you’d love to do that isn’t on this list? Reach out to retreats@calwood.org, we can probably make it happen :)
